St Edmund's School
location: Canterbury
year: 2002
client: St Edmund's School
A long term masterplan for St Edmund’s has been developed by Horden Cherry Lee Architects to accommodate a new music school, performance space, sports facilities, student housing and campus landscaping. An audit of the school’s entire estate identified development opportunities to help fund the development programme and with the Governors’ support, a report has been presented to local planners, and an outline application was submitted which includes representations on the Local Development Plan. The object of the masterplan is to create a high quality campus with new and old buildings orientated around views that make the most of the school’s elevated location overlooking Canterbury Cathedral.
