1 Finsbury Square Reception

location: London EC2

year: 2004

client: The Royal Bank of Scotland

Glazed panels suspended from the ceiling, projecting slightly out from the main elevation, continuing into the reception area of the new office building at No 1 Finsbury Square, lead visitors in from outside. Internally the space focuses on the curving, light grey corian and glass reception desk, shaped to create a natural flow toward the lifts at the rear of the reception. The carpet and reception desk are designed by Richard Horden with furniture by Sir Norman Foster. A gold wire sculpture is mounted on one wall and faces floor-to-ceiling etched glass panels on the other, both by Dutch artist Marijke de Goey.
