Point Lookout is an aluminium and acrylic canvas ‘beach rig’ and lifesavers platform providing a raised platform and shade canopy with an integral high-level tent to use as a bivouac in remote locations. It was designed originally for the biannual conference of Australasian architecture students in the Mount Lofty mountain range in South Australia to explore micro-architecture, and takes its name from Australia’s easternmost point, near Brisbane. It was later moved on to Bondi Beach and Frazer Island. The students were left with the task of analyzing the individual parts and evaluating the clarity of assembly, form and function.
