location: Central London

status: Detailed Design

client: Land Securities

A very important aspect that influenced the design concept of the interiors is the journey from the outside of the building towards the inside of the apartment; this gradual movement from public to private helped inform and describe the different internal zones and material palette of the common areas as well as the residential units.

The material palette is inspired by the subtle colours and tactile surfaces of beaches with sunbleached driftwood, silver ripples of sand and textures of pebbles and rocks. It responds to the plan diagram by associating each zone with
its own material palette, tonal values and lighting strategy to create an exciting progression from dark to light as the floor plan opens up to the views and light from the south.
