Julien Lafitte is a Director at HCL Architects, specialising in the design development and delivery of complex, large-scale mixed-use projects. His experience spans design, technical resolution and project execution, with a particular focus on the successful delivery of technically demanding developments.

Julien joined HCL Architects in 2013 and became a Director in 2024. Prior to joining the practice, he gained international professional experience in Munich and Shanghai. At HCL, he previously led the successful delivery of No.3 Canalside Walk and currently oversees the delivery of Arundel Great Court, a landmark mixed-use development comprising apartments, hotel, retail and a wide range of food and beverage facilities.

Between 2022 and 2024, Julien worked within St William’s technical department, where he led the delivery of 345 apartments and the largest residents’ facilities within the Berkeley Group. This experience further developed his expertise in the technical coordination and delivery of major residential and mixed-use projects.

Previous Experience

Julien joined HCL Architects in 2013, progressing to Associate and working on the design development and delivery of complex architectural projects. His work included leading the successful delivery of No.3 Canalside Walk before moving to St William in 2022.

Between 2022 and 2024, Julien worked as Senior Technical Coordinator within St William’s London South team. During this period, he led the delivery of 345 apartments together with the Berkeley Group’s largest residents’ facilities, gaining significant client-side experience in the technical coordination and execution of large-scale residential development.

Julien returned to HCL Architects as a Director in 2024 and currently oversees the delivery of Arundel Great Court.

Early Work

Prior to joining HCL Architects, Julien gained international professional experience in Munich and Shanghai, establishing an international foundation to his architectural career before moving into the delivery of major London projects.
